Kat Ku

Kat's foray into the animal industry first began in 2011 when she established her career in pet photography. As a pet photographer, working with both private clients and local rescues, she focused on capturing the personalities and all the joy and love that our furry friends bring. In 2016, she fostered her first dog through POET Animal Rescue, and thus began her informal education in dog behavior, which continued through the fostering of many other dogs over the years. In 2020, during the pandemic shutdown, she decided to foster another dog.

Little did she know how much this one would change her life. Unlike the other dogs she fostered in the past, unbeknownst to her, was that this dog came with a whole set of serious behavioral issues-- fear aggression (biting), reactivity towards people and dogs, and serious resource guarding. Through intuition and observation, time, and building trust, she was able to work with Max to counter condition his behaviors and help build his confidence to be the happy dog he is today. Through this experience, Max inspired Kat to become a dog trainer to help others understand their dogs, how to work with them, and to teach them ways to strengthen their own human-dog bond. Kat joined us in 2021 and has been with us ever since.
